due to bad weather, we had to skip our second day in port at costa maya, so we moved straight on to cozumel. my oldest niece, who met the height requirement, and brother-in-law went swimming with dolphins, the rest of the group went into town to an amazing resort. a few years ago, a hurricane completely destroyed a hotel, and in order to make money to rebuild, they’ve opened their restaurant, pool and beach front for tourists. it was a perfect spot to set up camp for the day. they had lounge chairs, towels, the most amazing guacamole and chips and a fresh water pool.
the girls started at the beach- maddie would have happily stayed in the sand for hours, while gracie was goggled up in seconds and begging matthew to take her into the ocean. there is nothing like the beach with our girls, it is definitely our favorite place to be with them! when we got too hot, we left the sand for the pool. we ordered a lunch pool side and gracie actually fell sound asleep curled up in my lap…it took about 10 minutes and i was sound asleep, it was heaven!
just before we left the girls grabbed their hats and filled them to the brim with sand and seashells. they were so excited to bring something home to put in jars on their shelves. they still haven’t noticed that the sand didn’t make it home with us, but luckily i managed to get the seashells home!
i have loved going back through all our pictures and journaling our trip- the girls are already asking to see pictures and hear stories!
